Norman Regional Health System plans new location

Posted on April 19, 2020

A zoning change application has been submitted for Norman Regional Health System‘s new southeast campus. The application is requesting changing zoning from office designation to a PUD (Planned Unit Development).

The nearly 30-acre site at Highway 9 and 24th Ave. SE is owned by Trinity Baptist Church Of Christ and was most recently listed for sale at $5,000,000. Norman Regional has not closed on the property, according to county assessor records.

Preliminary site plans submitted with the zoning change show 7 buildings to be built, including Norman Regional’s FSED+ (Free-standing Emergency Department). The FSED+ will include a lab, diagnostic imaging and other services according to Norman Regional and will be similar to the Norman Regional Moore Campus. The plan also shows a drive-thru restaurant planned for the SW corner of 24th Ave SE and Highway 9.

The construction of the Southeast Campus is part of Norman Regional’s Inspire Health program to reimagine how they provide healthcare services the Norman community. Other plans in the project include an expansion of the Healthplex campus at Tecumseh road and 36th Ave. NW and revisioning the Porter Campus.

Late last year, Norman Regional sought approval from the Norman City Council to issue $120,000,000 in revenue bonds to help finance the Inspire Health projects. Council gave approval to issue the bonds on November 12, 2019. The total projected cost for the entire project is $285,000,000.

Norman Regional said at the time of bond issuance approval that construction is projected to be completed in 24 months for the new FSED+ facility.
